Christ Wesleyan Theatre Productions is excited to announce its spring 2016 performances of:
The classic tale of an orphan girl, Anne, who rises from destitution to happiness in the farm country entirely by virtue of her pluck and personality. Anne’s adventures at Green Gables, the farm owned by her new caretakers, are both comical and heartwarming. This show, based on the novel written by L.M. Montgomery with 50 million copies sold worldwide, is revered by audiences around the world. As always, Christ Wesleyan Theatre Productions brings to you a family-friendly show with a heart as big as its red-pig-tailed title character. It’s not afraid to wear that heart on its sleeve or tug shamelessly at your tear ducts as it heads toward the final curtain.

Who can audition?
Anyone ages 12 & up.
Do you have to attend Christ Wesleyan Church?
No, anyone can audition whether or not they attend a church.
How many roles are available?
There are 29 speaking roles, and 21 chorus roles available.
What do I need to prepare for my audition?
Please choose an excerpt from one of the eight lead roles to audition. Even if you’re interested in another part, we will be able to cast based on these eight characters. You should prepare both the spoken lines (memorized is best), and the song for that character. (A YouTube link is provided to rehearse the song. If lyrics aren’t included in your excerpt, check the additional “Song Lyrics” document or in other characters’ excerpts.)

Anne Shirley – Young girl; red-haired and freckled; exuberant and precocious. She is scholastic and well-intentioned, but has a fiery temper.

Marilla Cuthbert – Late 50s; stern, moral, and no-nonsense spinster. She lives with Matthew, her unmarried brother. She has a wry sense of humor and is eventually affectionate toward Anne.

Matthew Cuthbert – Early 60s; bachelor with silvery hair and grey mustache. A sweet, soft-spoken farmer who works the Green Gables acreage. He lives with his sister Marilla, and is painfully shy toward women.

Gilbert Blythe – Young boy; smart, handsome, and confident. Good-natured, but cocky; he inadvertently becomes Anne’s adversary.
Rachel Lynde – Early 60s; outspoken and indiscreet; the town gossip. Affectionate toward her good friend, Marilla.

Diana Barry – Young girl; loyal, agreeable, and sweet. She is Anne’s best friend, schoolmate, and kindred spirit. Diana is an attractive girl with long black hair.

Josie Pye – Selfish, harsh, and scheming; Anne’s worst enemy. Josie is blonde and pretty.
Song: “Ice Cream”
Miss Muriel Stacy – Schoolteacher; radiates enthusiasm and rampant desire for learning. She is a role model and mentor for Anne.
